Jennifer Brown
Executive Director

Jennifer Brown was appointed Executive Director of the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership in August of 2006. Before joining the BID, she served as a principal at A2B Consulting, LLC, providing management counseling to public sector and not-for-profit clients.

Jennifer has held positions at the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation - managing the organization's community development and government/community relations activities and working extensively with stakeholders affected by the September 11 attacks - and the Union Square Partnership, where she served as the Director of Finance and Economic Development. Earlier in her career, she served as a Project Planner in the NYC Mayor’s Office of Operations.

Jennifer has a BA in Political Science from the University of Cincinnati and a Master’s degree in Public and Nonprofit Management from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.


Eric Zaretsky
Director of Marketing & Economic Development

Eric Zaretsky joined the BID as Director of Marketing and Economic Development in May 2008.  Previously, he served as a Senior Project Manager for Business Development at the New York City Economic Development Corporation, where he worked on initiatives aimed at attracting and marketing businesses in New York City.  

Eric completed his master’s degree in Urban Policy from Milano the New School for Management and Urban Policy in May 2008. While in graduate school, he interned in the Business Incentives Unit at the Department of Small Business Services. Eric is a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights and currently lives on the Upper West Side. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

 

Scott Kimmins
Director of Operations

Scott Kimmins began as the BID's Director of Operations in October of 2006. He spent 20 years with the New York Police Department in the 13th Precinct, which serves the Flatiron district. During his final years with the NYPD, he served as a Community Affairs officer, dealing extensively with local community groups and elected officials.  As Director of Operations, Scott is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the BID's sanitation and public safety programs.

Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Adelphi University. 

 

Scott Lamkin
Program Associate

Scott Lamkin joined the BID in May of 2007. Prior to moving to New York City, Scott spent over four years working as a legal assistant in a law firm in Cincinnati, Ohio while attending college. He received a BA in English from the University of Cincinnati. 

 

Mort Sheinman
Writer and Photographer (Part-time)

Mort Sheinman has been working as a part-time member of the BID team since December of 2006.  A newspaperman all his life until retiring a few years ago, Mort was managing editor of Women’s Wear Daily and one of the founding editors of W magazine. Mort works on a variety of projects for the BID and frequently contributes articles and photographs to the BID’s newsletter and website. 

Mort has lived on Gramercy Park since 1972.  He came to the BID through the auspices of ReServe, an organization that finds positions with nonprofits for retirees who want to continue using their professional skills, but on a part-time basis.
