 Magia Osteria Italiana
Meaning "magic" in Italian, Magia hopes to create an atmosphere befitting its name through great food and wine offerings. Located at 27 East 23rd Street between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue South, this tapas-style restaurant offers prosciutto and deli meat plates along with nearly 60 wine offerings. Pastas, soups, salads and sandwiches are also available. Mark Moeller, VP of Operations, envisions Magia as being "a place for people in the neighborhood to come and gather."  L'Occitane En Provence
The global beauty boutique has opened its U.S. flagship location right here in Flatiron at 170 Fifth Avenue at 22nd Street. Featuring an array of skin care and body care products, the 2,500 sq. ft. store also has a mini facial and skincare bar where customers can sample products.  Planet Green Pizza
As the printing on the store's awning declares, $1 pizza slices are available at Planet Green Pizza, located at 30 Lexington Avenue between 23rd and 24th Streets, right across from Baruch's Vertical Campus. In addition to pizza, patrons can also select from a salad bar, Italian gelato, cakes and pastries, and hot drinks.  Restaurant Week - Winter 2012
Reservations are now being taken for the 20th year of NYC Restaurant Week, which will run 20 days from January 16 to February 10. Presented by NYC & Company, participating restaurants will offer three-course prix-fixe lunches and dinners for $24.07 and $35, respectively, exclusive of beverage, tax and tip. Saturdays are not part of the Winter 2012 promotion, while Sundays are optional. Restaurant Week will take place at more than 300 venues, the largest to date. Flatiron district dining deals include: A Voce Madison, Ristorante Asellina, Dos Caminos, Duo Restaurant & Lounge, Giorgio's of Gramercy, Gravy, Hill Country Barbecue, The Hurricane Club, ilili, Junoon, Millesime, Nuela, Pranna, Primehouse, SD26 and Tamarind.  HOPE 2012: The NYC Street Survey
The NYC Department of Homeless Services is seeking volunteers to help conduct its 10th annual HOPE search on Monday, January 30. HOPE (Homeless Outreach Population Estimate) is a citywide effort to count the number of homeless on the streets, in parks and in subways throughout the five boroughs. To help the City collect this vital information used by outreach teams, HOPE 2012 is looking for 3,000 volunteers, 18 years of age or older. Training will be provided on the night of the survey. The count will take place from midnight until 4 a.m. For additional information, and to register, visit the HOPE 2012 website.

Free Walking Tours
From the site of Stanford White's infamous love nest to the story of America's first community Christmas tree, the Flatiron Partnership's free walking tours offer a unique perspective of a historic neighborhood. Expert guides spin a spellbinding narrative filled with inside information about the area's more colorful figures and its architectural wonders like the MetLife ClockTower, the Flatiron building, and the exquisite NYS Appellate Courthouse.
The tour meets every Sunday (rain or shine) at 11:00 a.m. at the southwest corner of Madison Square Park, 23rd Street and Broadway, in front of the William Seward statue. For more information click here.
