solutionsNYC Business Solutions Serves the Flatiron District

Businesses in and around the Flatiron district can turn to NYC Business Solutions to fulfill their recruitment needs, all at no cost. The Madison Avenue Center, located at 60 Madison Avenue, has helped many local businesses find talented employees, while saving them valuable time and money that's commonly associated with filling open job positions.

A Special Focus

Through the Center's NYC Business Solutions recruitment services, dedicated staff builds relationships with local mid-size businesses (with more than 125 employees), understands their hiring needs, and then connects them to a skilled workforce. The Center addresses the recruitment challenges faced by businesses while simultaneously streamlining the job search process for talented mid-wage jobseekers. While the Center's focus is serving mid-size businesses it also welcomes interest from small businesses (with less than 125 employees).

NYC Business Solutions will pre-screen qualified jobseekers and review resumes, ensuring that only the best candidates are connected to hiring businesses. The Center also holds recruitment fairs that allow employers to meet with a large pool of jobseekers at once, and can offer its business customers the use of their space to conduct interviews and open-house events, all at no cost.

A Track Record of Success

The Madison Avenue Center helped Platt Byard Dovell White (PBDW), an architectural firm located in the Flatiron district find the perfect finance assistant to meet their needs. "Our experience with NYC Business Solutions reflected a particularly satisfying evolution, beginning with skepticism and arriving at complete satisfaction," said Samuel G. White, a partner at PBDW. "We collected a lot of resumes, which they vetted, and then interviewed a short list. We hired the first person they sent us and are delighted with that person's performance. They clearly know what they are doing, and are extremely pleasant people to collaborate with."

hopeDoing Our Part: HOPE Count 2012

Gathering this past Monday night into the early morning hours of Tuesday, thousands of volunteers met for the eighth annual Homeless Outreach Population Estimate (HOPE), commonly referred to as the HOPE count, an initiative by the Department of Homeless Services.  Volunteers for the night included staff from the Flatiron BID and Urban Pathways led by BID Executive Director Jennifer Brown (pictured). The goal was for teams to spread across the five boroughs and canvas parks, streets, subways and public spaces to count the number of people living unsheltered in the city. The data collected from this endeavor is used by outreach teams to help the homeless leave the streets for a better life.

The BID contracts with Urban Pathways to provide supplement homeless outreach services in the Flatiron district. A two-person team of trained outreach workers from Urban Pathways, led by Jamel Garner, offers ongoing assistance, program referrals, and shelter and housing options to those in need of these services in the district. Since the program's inception, over 200 homeless individuals in the Flatiron district have received placements.
